Blackpool Council - Data Centre Project
As part of an upgrade to the Council’s services, in October 2006 Bespoke Networks were employed to install copper and fibre structured cabling to a new Data Centre. Over 1200 fibre and copper cables were provided to link to other Data Centres on the Council Network, enabling the roll out of the council’s plan for complete IP based communications.
Working in conjunction with Cisco, Synetrix and APC, Bespoke provided copper and fibre connectivity to the data centre for the switch over in October 2006. This allowed the council to provide further VOIP services to more council staff, significantly reducing telecomms costs to the council. The VOIP capabilities provided utilises the council Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), provided mainly by NTL (now Virgin Media) for internal telephone calls and communication. This provides a secure environment for the council’s communications, delivering services where required without the need for third party assistance.
